Bullies

Bullies I have been silenced for so long I do not know my own voice All I hear Are your words.  Your condemnations Your judgements Your lies.  I see your glance Haughty Better than everyone else.   Only You aren’t.   You are hiding behind fear That controls you And all you do. Keeping me in check  mate In case I discover my voice And use it  Against you. You who have held me hostage for so many years I, believing No more.   D.R.H. Copyright Donna R. Hedges 2021

Battles

Battles  Standing right smack  In the middle of the fray No time to react So much coming my way Duck dive twist run What are we fleeing from? Life.    At times Pushes right to the break How much more can pile on my plate? But I somehow manage We all do it seems Until the next twister Rips at our seams And when the storm passes We look back with grace And love and compassion and awe on our face Who knew we could do it? Life, we create.   D.R.H. Copyright Donna R. Hedges 2021

Sunrise

Sunrise The gentle morning light  holds me in it’s glow Comfort is its whole embrace Almost as if it knows  That today I really needed hope Please don’t let me go Soft as blushing rose Petals on my eyes Soothing all the bittersweet Falling from my sighs.    D.R.H. Copyright Donna R. Hedges 2021

Courage

Courage Following dreams and passions too Courage gallops in front of you The way unclear The oath unbroke Taking heart You have chose  One who can make this change The new light springs  Across the dawn Self doubt, uncertainty  Block this path constantly Reach for the star And hold on on tight This is the darkest  part of the night.  D.R.H. Kintsugi

Kintsugi Goodbye My Love I did my best  to never let you down And always honest  To be true  Goodbye sweet darling one Whose fingers did  caress my face  but once, My heart ever blessed Release your fingers and my heart, And with a final test Smash the chains that me you bound  Memories please erase Fondest hopes and dreams Once joyful built upon Golden towers whimsical plans Crushed broken, fallen down Oh bitter heart You took the leap And offered up your Tender sweet  One was not what appeared When first he came to view This heart believing  Star covered eyes, What it wanted- from you.  Why can’t you be the one of dreams  and magical fairy dust? Why should you end  This sad lament  Swept out like morning dust? Speak my love.   Tell me true.  You only have stars for me Don’t share your precious lilies  with anyone but me. Your face, I glow, when I see  Drifting across my scene Has now been Swiped aside  Like so much  imagining.   My pillow calls your name to me  As I lay down to sleep

Don’t Stop Driving

Don’t Stop Driving I’ve lost my way I cannot see What is right in front of me Tell me what  I should do Before it all comes unglued My head is full  Tales of grey I need something to show the way I haven’t once fallen apart I know they have my best at heart... But if they don’t... What is right, what is wrong The whole world has been thrown upon  A rocky unforgiving shore  What’s all this? There must be more.   D.R.H. Copyright Donna Hedges 2021

I See You

I See You I see you Over there  In the shadows  Reaching out With hidden heart  Doing all You can to be. Gracious duty Here is my hand Offered late Drifting sand. Brave steps up  And into you Knowing exactly What to do Turn your face into my light Cast your shadows into the night.  DRH Copyright Donna R Hedges 2021

Awake

Awake In hale Out hale Grounding deep Into Earth She will keep Your essence safe Within her breast Her waters enfold  And sweep away All the hurts Of yester’s day Rise anew Into this place  Where we are one In sweetened grace I am.    I am.  Right here Right now Awakened to  The touch of you. River

River Do I dare Step off this edge Into propensity? Dare I chance a break of heart possibility? You’re pulling my hands And my heartstrings too I want to give in And say yes to you. But It’s safe right here On the river’s side I won’t get swept up And tossed aside By water’s whim Or your callus gaze When no longer am I Your toy to play I tried it once And nearly drowned Once bit, twice shy, I prefer the ground. Don’t Fall

Don’t Fall My darling, don’t fall Into that well worn groove Don’t let it get the best of you Drawn strong are we To the sanctuary That isn’t one But is the devil we love It masquerades inside our heads As familiar comfort instead Make a new groove One that is whole One that cares about your soul Be wary my dear Don’t trust your heart This time your mind Must do its part.   DRH Copyright Donna R Hedges 2021

Reflection

Reflection  What has been created  In this living space of we? What about common good, love and charity? Taking what we need Never looking in the eye Of a fellow human being Struggling to get by. If I don’t look too close Somehow they’ll disappear And I won’t have to see  myself reflected there.   DRH Copyright Donna R Hedges 2021

Moon to Fiery Sun

Moon to Fiery sun Fiery Sun You have been my light But I am ever bent To react to sweet supplications With an ever nasty rant Why should I be any different from those Who’ve done the worst to me Who cares about being loved? Love is treachery.   DRH Copyright Donna R Hedges 2021

Oh Moon

Oh Moon Oh Moon I wish that I Could offer up to you Comfort    in your agony What I wouldn’t do for you Powerless am I  And may only off up My prayers and incantations That will never be enough Your weary shores Hold back your tears Oh strength and fortitude Hand to me your soul’s despair I will cry them all For you.
