Safe
Safe
Moon shine
Peeking through.
Across my hand.
Silver glimmer
Promise of
Clarity
Warmth
Beauty.
Softly, gently
Slowly.
With great trepidation.
Fingers rake the folds.
A ray of light
Hope?
Fear.
If I show my hand.
My greatest weakness.
Expose my heart.
Will I
Be shot down?
Again?
Trust myself?
I dare not.
For so often
I have been wrong.
All I know of love
Is that it hurts
to give.
to receive.
Safe
on my shores
Is where
you’ll find me.
Releasing fabric.
Stepping back
Into the dark
Once more.
